Attending to the Little Things.

A man goes on a father and son outing with his two sons. They spend all day together doing activities and finish off with a movie. While watching the movie the youngest son falls asleep. Once the movie is over the father picks the son up, covers him in his jacket, and tucks him in. He then looks over at his older son who is already in bed with his back towards him. He goes over and notices his eyes welling up with tears. The father then asks his son what is wrong. The boy answers, “Daddy, if I were cold, would you put your coat around me, too?” Of all the events of that special night out together, the most important was a little act of kindness- a momentary , unconscious showing of love to his little brother.  In relationships, the little things are the big things.
